Con đường từ làng Te Anau tới Milford Sound (Vịnh Milford) tên Milford Road tuyệt đẹp, được xếp hạng một trong những con đường đẹp nhất thế giới. Đường nầy chạy ngang qua Vườn Quốc Gia Fiordland và di sản thế giới Te Wahipounamu.

Con đường Milford (Milford Road) không những đẹp nhất thế giới. Nó còn được xếp hạng đường nguy hiểm nhất thế giới, nhiều tai nạn nhất. Mùa đông ở đây tuyết lỡ (avalanche) nhiều lắm nhiều du khách bị thương, và đôi khi chết. Thế nhưng mỗi năm cả triệu người đã đi con đường này để tới thăm viếng Vịnh Milford, được Rudyard Kipling gọi là “Kỳ Quan Thứ 8 của Thế Giới“, và được độc giả của TripAdvisor bầu chọn là điểm đến du lịch hàng đầu trên thế giới vào năm 2008.

Đi trên con đường Milford như lạc vào một chốn thiên thai nào đó. Đây là một chuyến phiêu lưu nhiều thích thú và bất ngờ. Từ Queenstown đi Vịnh Milford, du thuyền trên Vịnh một tiếng, xong trở về lại Queenstown phải mất hơn 8 tiếng, sáng thức dậy thật sớm để đi, chiều tối mới trở về được. Thế nhưng hàng năm cả triệu du khách đã đi giang hồ như vậy. Phần thưởng là thấy được thiên nhiên hoang sơ tuyệt đẹp.
Tại “Mirror Lake” (Hồ phản chiếu). Trời mưa lâm râm nhiều mây nên không phản chiếu được gì.
Con đường Milford đi ngang qua nhiều danh lam thắng cảnh, mỗi nơi các bạn nên ghé qua để thưởng thức và chụp hình. Chẳng hạn như “Mirror Lakes” phản chiếu núi non xung quanh, “Avenue of disappearing Mountains“, một ngọn núi do ảo tưởng chúng ta thấy càng ngày càng nhỏ khi xe chạy tới gần, “Monkey Creek, “Homer Tunnel” (Hầm Homer) dài hạng nhì ở Tân Tây Lan v.v..

Phim “The Fellowship of the Ring” (Hiệp hội của Nhẫn) đã được quay trong vùng rừng núi Eglinton ở trên hồ Gunn. Phim này do đạo diễn Peter Jackson thực hiện dựa trên bộ tiểu thuyết giả tưởng “The Lord of the Rings” (Chúa tể của những chiếc nhẫn) của nhà văn J. R. R. Tolkien.
